‘Lost in the Bog’ is a series of work that explores mysterious unions, fractures and slippages between material, mental, and spiritual space. In this work, I use formal links between drawing, printmaking and installation to explore a narrative of my character Saul in which distinctions between mind/body/environment dissolve — much to his dismay. Trapped in a teeming mountain wetland, Saul helplessly drifts through an unquantifiable murk. Between nameable spaces he alights, his consciousness adrift somewhere among the flora, fauna, and humid air; his bones cradled by shifting layers of mud, frogs, and microbes. Enticed by inky layers and bursts of color, we might join Saul in his drift.
